photo by fernando martinez - used by permission Chris Cornell's first-ever visit to Chile was one to remember. after opening sets from Phoenix and the Dandy Warhols, Chris gave the ten thousand strong audience a show lasting close to three hours, even longer than Led Zeppelin's set over the water in London. The crowd were both keen and knowledgeable and sang along with almost everything...!

thanks to naldo for the photo - see more here by erick I don't know how to start, I'm so excited. For me the concert started more than 1 month ago, when the event was confirmed and the tickets were out. And the day before, the same day that I went to the hotel and met Jason, Yogi and Pete from the band, and then saw Chris entering to the Hotel really fast. The day of the concert, I was there like 6 hours before doors opened (doors opened 16:30), meeting other fans, with some friends. Then inside the place, the Phoenix's Show started 18:30 and the show was really good, their show was 45 minutes long. then after 30 minutes "The Dandy Warhols" started to play, a slow show, that didn't like us, too slow, 45 minutes, and then everything was prepared for Chris. The Show started when the band goes out and they started to play the last part of Sunshower as an intro, and I knew that, the moment that I was expecting for more than 13 years finally came, Chris entered and they started to play Let Me Drown, the crowd was so excited, people started to sing the song, while jumping like crazy, and continued with Outshined and Spoonman, that everybody were expecting, same thing, jumping, singing, screaming. Then he played the first Audioslave song of the night, Show Me How To Live. But I Think one of the Highest moment of the night was Chris singing Hunger Strike, and we (the crowd) singing Eddie's part, I was AWESOME, I was almost crying, one tear went out of my eye, then the first 2 Carry On songs, No Such Thing and You Know My Name, great, the crowd was like the beginning.
photo by fernando martinez - used by permission Then other of the greatest moment, Fell On Black Days, and everybody calm, just singing, it was so beautiful, then What You Are, incredible following Rusty Cage, excellent, I'm a big Soundgarden fan and Rusty Cage killed me. The band went out and the second part of the show started, just Chris solo with his acoustic guitar. Finally Forever dedicated to his Wife, with a beautiful speech, then he started to play Billie Jean on guitar, but he made a big surprise for us when started to sing Put a Spell On You, followed by Billie Jean, everybody sang that song, was incredible. Then my favorite song from Audioslave came, I am The Highway, so beautiful. But one of my favorites moment came, that day, the same day of Led Zeppelin's reunion concert, Chris played Thank You. I cried, cause I'm a big fan of Led Zeppelin and I knew that the reunion concert was the same day, and I've never had the chance of see them, it was absolutely great, so like I said million times Thank You Chris, then Like A Stone, plus Doesn't Remind Me half solo, and the second half with the band, it was great, Chris broke his guitar's strings, then he went out of the stage. The band started to Jam, and Chris entered without his T-Shirt and sang Cochise, people again started to jump. Then the biggest surprise of the night Ty Cobb, people went crazy. Then another surprise, Zero Chance by request, my favorite Soundgarden song, it was great, I dont know how to describe my feelings when I hear that song, totally excited, then Arms Around Your Love, and was great for all of us, Be Yourself was so great, with Yogi saying "SI SEÑOR" (yes sir in Spanish) when Chris said, "Yogi, Can You start the next song?", "Si Señor, Gracias" I was great. Then dedicated to his baby and wife he sang Out Of Exile, after that the moment that all the people was expecting the famous Black Hole Sun, everybody singing, and everybody could saw Chris's face. He was excited, his face was like he couldn't believe what was happening, Then Jesus Christ Pose, and like the entire concert, his voice was awesome, but you know in that song...
photo by sebastian lopez - see more here What a great voice, the band left the stage, and we thought, it's finished, 25 songs, like 2 hours of the best concert in Chile. But they came out again and nobody believed that, Can't Change Me, was played first, with all the people singing, and when we all thought it was everything, they started to play Burden In My Hand, and it was incredible, another great moment in the concert. Then Yogi and Pete grab acoustic guitars, and they started to play Seasons, the first note and I couldn't believe, cause when Chris was playing his Acoustic show, I was screaming "SEASONS, SEASONS" everytime a song ended, like I said, it was imposible to believe that moment, I was looking at people's faces and was so excited, some girls crying, and more when Crhis started to sing In My Time Of Dying from Led Zeppelin, then finished Seasons, then they grab electric guitars again and the first notes of Slaves And Bulldozers were played, we knew that it was the end, but it was incredible, the song was playing completely, then Pete broke his guitar's strings (all of them), Yogi was on the floor, Corey was really close to us, joking with us, saying Hi to some cameras, and Jason started a great Drum Solo, followed by some verses of 4th of July, that was incredible, with some verses of Overfloater that I couldn't recognize at the moment, they finished that kind of medley with Whole Lotta Love, and the band so excited, said goodbye. Nobody was dissapointed, everybody was so happy, outside the place, when you looked to somebody, you just saw happy faces, hugging everybody, I was talking with some friends so happy, hoping that Chris can come back some day like he said " We are very happy to be here, and I promised that I will come back very soon". It was GREAT."
photo by fernando martinez - used by permission by rodrigo About the show, well, just amazing!!!!.......according to Chris, the show was one of these special nights on that chemistry works from start to finish!!! Just give thanks to Chris and his awesome band who made possible what it was impossible, bringing back nostalgic years and a brilliant present. by andre salvarez I've been waiting for 15 years to make a dream come true, and... When I get into Espacio Riesco, I was nervious, not for Chris Cornell Concert but for my little brother, he was traveling from Talca, IT WAS HIS FIRST CONCERT, and WHAT A CONCERT, lucky guy!. And then, when my brother arrived there, we run inside 'cause the band was started to play, so when I stand right in the entrance, Chris jump into the stage JUST AT THE SAME TIME, was incredible. With my brother would like to hear Outshined, Feel on Black Days, Slaves and Bulldozers, Black Hole Sun, Jesus Christ Pose, Hunger Strike, Show me How to Live, Spoonman but, we don't believe than Chris gonna play all of them... and then we think that we where dreaming and I couldn't stoped singing louder but, when I hear the hi-hat making the start of Burden in My Hand... OOHH GOD, THANKS FOR THAT MOMENT... I COULDN'T STOP CRYING AND THEN... I SING LOUDER THAN ANYONE AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIVE, NO ONE CARES MORE THAN ME. It was incredible, amazing, awesome, CHRIS HAS THE BIGGEST POWER IN HIS VOICE... and it doesn't was a dream, not a video, HE WAS THERE WITH US FOR REAL, I HEARED HIS POWERFUL VOICE... LIVE!! Now I want to say... THANKS CHRIS FOR MAKE MY DREAM COME TRUE!! THANK YOU FOR GIVE US A SHOW FROM OUT OF THIS WORLD, FOR SING THE GREATEST HITS OF YOUR CAREER... FOR MAKE US REMEMBER OUR YOUTH...
- MARCELO CONTRERAS, El Mercurio
photo by Rodrigo Basaure - see more here "While yesterday Led Zeppelin played its reunion concert in London, Chris Cornell played Thank You with his acoustic guitar, one of the classics from Led Zeppelin. In that minute, when the former vocalist from Soundgarden reached the middle of his first concert in Chile in Espacio Riesco, the room was too hot, despite the slow chords. Cornell, the voice of grunge, puts his presentation as a milestone: muscle and heavy rock in the hand of one of the best exponents from the last 20 years. Although Espacio Riesco is a place less suitable for a hard-rock display (the bass blurs the details), the enthusiasm of the packed hall seemed to feed the energies of Cornell and his band. During the Audioslave period, his last band, Cornell seems calm: now aware of his name only, he deployed overflowing energy. Knowing his grunge position, the vocalist started with the gems of his Soundgarden stage like: Let Me Drown, Outshined and Spoonman. The incredible thing is that his throat, which seems not so good in the midtones according to his latest recordings, not only overcome this flaw, but has retaken the treble that made him famous. When it was the turn of "Hunger Strike" (Temple of the dog),Espacio Riesco simply erupted in cheers that were heard as a noisy cascade, applause that continued with "Rusty cage" and "Fell on black days," also from Soundgarden. After the acoustic break where the conspicuous "Billy Jean" and "Like a stone" were played - Cornell took off his T-Shirt and started all the howls from females, because it's sure that the guy goes to the gym and checks the calories that he eat. Probably the only ones that are allowed are those that feed dense riffs and daunting howls." - thanks to Erick Leiva for the translation

El Mercurio international edition Chris Cornell concert revived Soundgarden and Audioslave in Chile
photo by Ricardo Vásquez SANTIAGO.- American performer Chris Cornell, satisfied the more than 10 thousand audience members who attended his Chilean debut with a concert that lasted almost three hours, performing the hits that have turned him into an international star after being a member the bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. Cornell, who is now performing as a solo artist, electrified the Espacio Riesco convention center without resorting to the visual effects and lights used in other mega-concerts that have lit up the marquee this year. Cornell's concert can be described as a complete musical delivery, from the melancholy of grunge and power of hard rock to the sensitivity of his acoustic compositions. Cornell captivated the mostly male, 90s-generation audience with classic songs from the former band of Soundgarden. The American also took the opportunity to perform songs from Temple of the Dog (a contemporary of Cornell [Cornell was actually their singer - webmaster] that only released one album in 1991), as well as tributes to Led Zeppelin and Michael Jackson. Cornell said goodbye to his fans by giving away guitar picks and a good dose of the musical genre also delivered by Pearl Jam exactly two years before.
